Via the horse-drawn traveller community, my first experience of driving a horse was along a residential road in Great Barr, Birmingham. From that moment I was hooked. I bought a gypsy cob from the travellers together with a simple 4-wheel cart, then later graduated to a Polish-made Wagonette with disc brakes and suspension.

Paul Chambers, at that time was representing Great Britain in Carriage Driving Trials Competition, was introduced to me by a friend. Paul made me realise how much I didn’t know about driving a horse, introducing me to “outside rein”¬†and “long reining”.

Meeting a Wolverley member stewarding at the National Carriage Driving Trials Event at Catton Park was my introduction to club membership.

We never stop learning – Wolverley is a great club to help you on your driving journey.
