Long Reining – Stourport Riding Centre 3.4.16.

It was the first time WDDC had held an event at Stourport Riding Centre since the new international indoor arena was opened. It turned out to be an excellent introductory venue for new entrants the sport as well as a safe format for trying out horses and ponies new to their owners this season.

The obstacles provided a combination of tests for horse and handler – some to do with accurate shapes – others to do with giving confidence to the animal to go somewhere unsettling. It was decided not to run the day as a competition – instead to give participants as much time as they needed to improve their skill and confidence. Advice was on hand if required and people enjoyed the informality of selecting their time slot and duration in the school – up to 10-15 minutes at a time.

Even River the German Shepherd, belonging to Clare Marley, enjoyed the day!
